Author Guidelines

Manuscripts for feature articles should be 1800 – 2400 words in length, including references. These are more in-depth articles supported by research and personal practice and experience.

Manuscripts for the column Tips & Tactics should be 1400-1500 words and should offer information that can be easily transferred to practice on a daily basis, as the column title infers.

References follow the American Psychological Association (APA) format. See: Purdue University’s guide:

Figures and Tables
Each table or figure should be numbered consecutively and on a separate sheet. Refer to these tables, etc. in numerical order in the text.

Drawings, cartoons or photos are welcome. Photos must be 300 DPI to meet print standards. Please include suggested captions and photographer credits, where appropriate. If copyrighted material is used in the article, written evidence of permission to use the material must be included.

Editorial Procedures
The editor is responsible for final decisions regarding manuscripts and reserves the right to edit for brevity, clarity and consistency of style. Authors are responsible for obtaining and providing written permissions for copyrighted material used in articles.

Proposed articles are peer reviewed as appropriate and are reviewed by at least two members of the Teacher Librarian peer review board, all of whom are either scholars or recognized professionals.

This is a blind review; reviewers do not know the title or the author(s) of the article.
